Today, April 5th, people all over the world, from all walks of life spent the day without shoes on. Why you ask? To raise awareness of the millions of children and people that can't afford shoes. The people who have to walk miles to get clean water and to get food. They have to spend years without shoes, so we can spend one day without shoes. It's sponsored by Toms shoes, which is an awesome organization that when you buy a pair of shoes, they give a pair to a child who doesn't have a pair. The shoes are SO comfortable, too!

It was not the perfect day to walk around outside without shoes on, and I started out this morning with my sneakers on and went to my aerobics class, forgetting what day it was. Once I changed my clothes after class, I realized that I forget shoes to wear for the rest of the day. It was a sign, I should participate in One Day Without Shoes.

I got a sticker and signed the waiver - just saying that you would put shoes on if a professor asked you to, you would wear shoes in the dining hall, science labs and wherever else poses a risk to your bare feet - and was set to go!

At first it was kind of freeing to walk around without shoes on, even though it was a bit cold, and kind of rainy. Then after walking on the sidewalks for a bit, my feet started to hurt! Man, I really appreciate my shoes after walking around all day without shoes on.
