Dorky Qualities.

Sorry for the missed post yesterday. I was in front of my computer all day watching this:

while reading this:

That's right, I'm such a nerd that I watched the live premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 for 4 hours yesterday. All while reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix during the more boring parts.

I'm just that cool. I finished OotP (Order of the Phoenix for all you non-HP nerds ;) ) yesterday, and had just started it on Tuesday. Yes, that's 3 days to read an 870 page book. I know, I'm a loser, Mr. Skinny tells me all the time.

I actually teared up during these last speeches at the premiere. Emma (Hermoine) was crying, and Jo (the author) was crying, too, and it just hit me how much of an impact these books have had on my life. The last movie coming out marks the end of an era, not just for Hollywood, but for me, too. The books first came out in 1997, I was 8 years old. I didn't start reading them until after the second film came out in 2002, but I've watched these movies countless time, and read the books countless times as well. With the release of this last movie, it marks the end of my childhood. Yes, I know that I'm 22 years old and my childhood was over a long time ago, but it's deeper than that. These actors are the same age as me. While I was reading the books, I was nearly the same age as Harry, Ron and Hermoine. This is a big deal to me. I'm going at midnight with my non-HP book fan of a brother, but we'll have a good time.

In other news Wells Fargo FINALLY called me back, after I called the woman who I initially talked to when I set up the phone screening who then passed on the message to the HR woman whom (who?) I was trying to contact. I didn't get the job, surprise there. So I'm going to call Mr. Skinny's grandma's financial advisor and tell him that I'm interested in the job that he's going to offer me. Looks like my summer vacation is coming to an end.

I weighed in today, and boo, I was up, but I'm not going to officially track it since I'm pretty sure it was a fluke. I made homemade French Onion soup last night and the canned beef broth and cheese were NOT my friends this morning on the scale. But before I could wallow over it too long, I went for a run. I did a total of 2.78 miles, running a little over 2 miles of it.

Then I did some weights. I did weights on Wednesday though, and I'm sure sore from it, so I only did what I felt I could do, and I'll hold off on weights until Monday when I'm (hopefully), not sore anymore.

I finished up with a protein shake, and a shower. Now I'll be getting back to reading the next Harry Potter book - Half Blood Prince. I have to finish the books before the movie comes out next Thursday night at midnight!!

Are you a Harry Potter fan? What's one of your dorkier qualities?

  1. I've never let myself get into Harry, but I'm slowly thinking it should be allowed :) That stinks about the scale, but French Onion soup can lean towards being semi-sodium heavy, depending on how it's prepared, so I wouldn't be too bummed... although I've been there, done that more times than I can count!

Thanks for the comment on my orzo! I usually make it with the WW Balsamic Chicken and it is a-ma-zing. The points for the orzo is 3 pts (entire recipe is 3 servings, so it's a generous amount!), and the balsamic chicken is only 3pts too! Love it.

  2. Total HP dork here!! I'm a little older than you. I was 16 when they first came out and was perplexed by it's popularity. I started reading them after the first movie came out before the 5th book. I got the 7th book the day it came out. I stared reading at 1 pm on Saturday (don't ask me why I know what time), and finished reading it on Sunday night.

Other dorky things about me? I make up corny songs, have played dungeons and dragons, read fantasy novels and used to play World of Warcraft.... That's some pretty dorky stuff!

  3. I'm pretty sure one of my boyfriend's favorite pasttimes is mocking me for liking HP. And when I say liking I mean borderline obsessed, haha.

When the final book came out, a friend of mine and I went to the release party in Harvard Square, where everyone dressed up and "Harry and the Potters" performed. It was awesome haha
