Well, here we are at week 8, although week 9 starts Saturday, my posts were thrown off a little bit this week with my first appointment.
What baby looks like:
| The first week that s/he looks less like an alien! Yay! |
How's baby growing?
- New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it. (From Baby Center)
How I'm changing:
I've gained about 2 pounds since I've found out I'm pregnant. But I feel like I've gained a lot more! It's amazing how fast your body can change, and how hard it is to accept that the scale has to go up, and that's a good thing! I'd really like to start measuring my stomach around my belly button and see where that goes. Would that be a good spot to measure it?
| 8 weeks. |
My boobs are still killing me! I don't think they've really grown, although they might have, I think my bras were always somewhat tight. I might have to get some kind of bra to wear at night because these big girls flopping around is not the most comfortable night of sleep. Speaking of sleep, I'm still up at least 2-3 times each night to pee. I've never been a good sleeper though, so that's not really anything new, although I normally didn't get up that many times. I've had nights where I'm up darn near 7 times a night to pee. I'm also getting about 10 - 12 hours of sleep each night, and I could probably nap during the day, but I won't let myself.
I'm still nauseous for most of the day, too, and no food really sounds good to me. Although I did get some PB Cap'n Crunch and pita chips and hummus at the store yesterday. I feel bad for my poor family who is trying to find something to eat because I'm normally the cook, but have no interest in cooking anymore. My mom hates to cook and so we've been doing take out or easy meals, i.e. spaghetti for dinners at night. I might try to make something tonight since I have a surprise day off work.
Speaking of nausea, I had my first actual upchucking session this morning. It was only crackers, and I felt better afterward, but I'd rather not get sick at all. I know it's normal for most women, but I was okay with just being nauseous, haha!
I'm also having a hard time eating healthy. I'm slipping back into my old ways, not worry about nutrition and over-eating. I know Mr. Skinny is trying to help me, but my pregnancy hormones take over and get mad at him if he reminds me that I should be eating healthy. I'm really trying to trust my body and eat what sounds good, but I could go all day without eating a single fruit or vegetable, and I know that's not healthy for me or the baby. Also, after going months without eating fast food, I've had it twice this week - Wendy's and BK. I didn't go overboard at either of them, but just knowing that's what I'm feeding my baby doesn't make me happy. Mr. Skinny said something yesterday, too - he asked if we'll let our child have fast food, and I said no, then he asked why is was okay to feed him/her that now. It really struck something with me. I have to try my hardest to feed this baby nutritious food. It's also hard when nothing really sounds good. But I'm really going to work on it, it's not fair to give this baby junky processed foods.
Stay tuned for week 9 on Monday!
Tell me:
Do you have any questions about my pregnancy?
What are you looking forward to?
Aww! Look a happy Momma to be! I'm not sure if I ever congratulated you. So.. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWhen my sister was pregnant, she craved taco bell... Alot! LOL! Maybe think of your food choices as practice for future decisions about doing what's best for the baby.
I was so sick the first trimester, I remember living on plain ramen!
ReplyDeleteI started showing pretty early, but only I noticed it for a while. It takes a WHILE before anyone will mention it to you in public, hehe.
The breast thing got better for me around 9-10 weeks, which is normal. I mean, they are still ginormous, but they don't hurt all that much anymore. Just make sure if you are throwing up that you have food and/or liquid in your stomach. The few times I dry heaved were the absolute worst! When do you get to have your first ultrasound?
